Bug-Out Bag

Your "72-Hour" Emergency Plan

The Bug-Out Bag (BOB), also known as a "72-hour bag," is a core concept in Prepper preparations. Its purpose is to provide you with everything you need to survive independently for at least 72 hours when you need to evacuate your home urgently.

This bag is not a hiking pack or a travel bag. Every item within it is carefully selected to handle a variety of emergency situations.

What Should Be in the Bag? (Layered and Categorized)

A good BOB is typically organized according to survival priorities:

  1. Water:
    • Ready-to-drink water (at least 1-2 liters).
    • Water purification tools: e.g., a water filter, purification tablets.
    • Water container: A metal bottle that can be used for direct heating is ideal.
  2. Shelter & Warmth:
    • A lightweight tarp or an emergency tent.
    • A sleeping bag or an emergency space blanket.
    • Multiple fire-starting tools like lighters and a ferro rod.
  3. Food:
    • High-energy, no-cook foods like energy bars or compressed biscuits.
    • At least a three-day supply.
  4. First Aid:
    • A comprehensive personal first-aid kit, including any personal prescription medications.
  5. Tools & Navigation:
    • A multi-tool and a fixed-blade knife.
    • A headlamp or flashlight with spare batteries.
    • A map and compass (do not rely solely on GPS).
    • A small amount of cash.
  6. Hygiene & Clothing:
    • Spare socks and underwear.
    • Wet wipes, toothbrush, etc.
